From Computer Science to Healing Hands: Dr. Prakash Vishwanathan

The story of Dr. Prakash Vishwanathan is one of those rare paths—winding, demanding, but filled with purpose. Born on a NATO base in Brussels, Prakash's life has been global from the start.

At the University of Rochester, Prakash majored in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence, alongside Biology. In 1998, he graduated and began working as a computer consultant. But something felt missing—he wasn't solving human problems, just technical ones. One day, in a moment of clarity, he decided to start over.

He enrolled in St. George's University School of Medicine, graduating in 2005. From there, his medical journey took him back to Stony Brook, where he completed his residency, served as Chief Resident, and then trained further in Gastroenterology, completing his fellowship in 2012.
