From Art to Apothecary: Gina Binnenman's Journey of Care

Gina Binnenman grew up in a home where work ethic and service were everyday lessons. As a teenager, Gina imagined majoring in art and building a career in advertising. Life, however, handed her a different canvas.

When her sister fell ill with Hodgkin disease, Gina watched a pharmacist sit with the family, explain the medicines with clarity and compassion, and steady the room with knowledge. That conversation changed everything.

In 1986, Gina took a job at San Remo Pharmacy. She thought it might be temporary. Instead, it became a calling. She learned the pace of community care, the names behind the prescriptions, and the trust that forms when people know their pharmacist. She even met her future husband there.

After earning her B-Pharm, she returned to San Remo and served the community through 2013—ultimately completing her doctoral training as well.

Gina joined the hospital pharmacy in 2013 and witnessed sweeping transformation as the organization integrated into a larger health system. In 2018 she became Clinical Manager, and in 2025 she was named Assistant Director of Pharmacy.

Gina believes pharmacists are integral to every care team—saving lives in quiet, consistent ways: catching a dosing error, preventing a dangerous drug interaction, tailoring therapies for complex patients.
