Gary's story stands out as a shining example of humble beginnings and relentless work ethic. It all began on August 3, 1973. A 16-year-old Gary walked into Brookhaven Hospital to deliver clams he had caught himself.

Gary started in environmental services, becoming known as someone who could—and would—do any task with heart. Task after task, he absorbed not only the work, but its meaning. At just 25, he became Director of Environmental Services.

But that title never changed the man. To this day, he still reminds his team: "Clean the floor like your mother is going to walk on it." Gary didn't just grow in his role—he grew others with him.
