From Cali to the Heart of Quality: Mayra Luciano

In the quiet strength of her presence, Mayra Luciano brings warmth, diligence, and heart to every corner of the hospital. Born in Venezuela to a family with roots in Colombia, Mayra's life has been shaped by courage, sacrifice, and a relentless drive to move forward.

When she was just seven years old, the family relocated to Miami. Her uncle had moved there in the most incredible way—by writing a letter to President John F. Kennedy at the White House.

Mayra studied biology and later enrolled at the University of Illinois, working full-time while studying for the MCAT. After starting over in Miami, she enrolled in the accelerated nursing program at the University of Miami. She worked at Stony Brook University Hospital in the Emergency Department, balancing her demanding job with the needs of her young children.

Eventually, Mayra transitioned into Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), where she has worked for over a decade. She joined Long Island Community Hospital as a CDI Specialist and later transitioned to Quality.

In every role she has played, Mayra reminds us that grace under pressure, quiet dedication, and love for one's family are the true heartbeat of the hospital.
