Addressing Transgender Care, Mental Health & a Heroes Circle Moment

Conversations among the leadership: I had the pleasure of meeting several of our district presidents virtually on June 21, 2021. We have energetic, enthusiastic, articulate leaders with a clear vision of addressing the needs of our patients and physicians. Together, we aim to further discuss the following topics in the coming weeks:

The mental health of physicians and patients: Healers are hurt, stressed, and need help. Physician burnout is at its peak. We should help each other and our patients.

Standing in solidarity with our transgender patients and peers: The lives of transgender individuals are complex and influenced by many factors. There is a dire need for radical change within medical education programs and practices. We must address the issue of transgender health disparities through improving medical training and awareness.

Advocating for equity and equality: EQUALITY aims to ensure that everyone gets the same things to enjoy full, healthy lives. On the other hand, EQUITY involves trying to understand and give people what they need, to enjoy healthy lives.

Supporting student interest groups: Students are the future of medicine and the health of humanity, and we give the highest importance to the student section.

Increasing membership: Together, we are stronger. ACP promotes quality patient care, advocacy, education, and career fulfillment in internal medicine and its subspecialties.
